Casemiro: I’m proud to play for England’s greatest club
Casemiro put in a great display in Manchester United’s convincing 2-0 win over Manchester City yesterday, claiming the man of the match award, and came incredibly close to scoring a goal for himself.
Speaking to ESPN Brasil after the game, Casemiro discussed the pride he feels in getting to play for United.
I’m about to celebrate my four years here, I’ve won two titles, I’ve played in the Europa League final. Of course, United always has to fight for the top spots, and I’m the first to say it. City was the favourite for that match, and yet, we end up winning. Every Premier League match is a story in itself.
We’re working hard, and of course, we’re disappointed by the coaching changes. Unfortunately, Ruben [Amorim] has left and another coach has arrived. We must support each other and stand united with the coach to give our very best. When it comes to United, we must always aim for the top spots; it can’t be any other way.
I’m taking a lot of pleasure in it, I’m really savouring the present moment and I’m proud to play for United, England’s greatest club. It’s my greatest pride and I’m happy to say it. I’ve played for Spain’s greatest club. I’ve played for the two greatest clubs in the world. I’m making the most of it and I’m trying to pass on to the players, in the dressing room, the importance of playing for a club like United. It’s extremely difficult to reach this level.
