Club Statement: Jack Turner

A transfer fee was agreed last week with a Step 3 club and Jack was given permission to speak with them, but his personal terms could not be agreed.

Jack asked for and agreed a long-term contract last February, however last week offered his own money to buy off his deal, but nowhere near what we have been offered by other clubs.

Security of contracts works both ways. For the player, when they get injured, we still have to pay them. But also to protect the club, as players have a value, we have a responsibility to achieve the best we can for the club and fans.

In the meantime, we feel it inappropriate to select him when he has asked to leave and have sought a new goalkeeper. Once again, we did not want Jack to leave and will be sad to see him go.

Once a transfer is agreed, we can focus on thanking him for a wonderful four years and all move on, but until that point he remains our player. No further comment will be made until a deal is finalised.
