INEOS ready to act: Four Man United transfers that could be approved this winter

0 0

Manchester United must be preparing themselves for the upcoming winter transfer window.

The window opens on 1 January and runs until 2 February.

With six demanding months of the 2025–26 campaign still ahead, manager Ruben Amorim and INEOS may be forced into swift decisions to sharpen efficiency and depth.

Here are four transfers that could realistically materialise in the coming weeks as United look to fine-tune their squad.

Sam Mather

Mather failed to secure a permanent exit during the summer, despite being the subject of interest from clubs in Portugal, Germany and Turkey.

His deadline-day move to Turkish outfit Kayserispor collapsed due to a lack of time.

Mather was part of the squad that won the FA Youth Cup in 2022 and has trained with the United first team this campaign.

Moving to a new club seems to be the best way to restart his career as he has already outgrow the academy.

Joshua Zirkzee

Zirkzee has started just thrice in the Premier League this term.

He has played only 393 minutes in the English top flight, scoring one goal against Crystal Palace.

AS Roma are heavily interested in signing him next month on loan with an obligation to buy.

The 24-year-old also wants to move as he aims to get a spot in the Netherlands’ World Cup squad.

Zirkzee lacks the pace and character to be a striker at United.

Unless Amorim radically reshapes his attacking structure around him, Zirkzee looks destined to remain an awkward fit.

A transfer could benefit all parties, provided United are able to recoup a profit from his exit.

Tyrell Malacia

Malacia was part of the bomb squad in the summer but a lack of suitors did not allow him to leave Old Trafford.

His current deal at United will expire in June.

This winter window represents United’s final realistic chance to generate a fee for the Dutch full-back.

Malacia made his first appearance since the start of the year against Newcastle United, but is not part of the long-term plans under Amorim.

Ruben Neves

Neves has declined a new contract offer from Saudi Arabian outfit Al-Hilal.

He could be signed for under £18 million, a brilliant market opportunity for United to build their squad depth.

The 28-year-old is a proven Premier League player, courtesy of his six-year stay at Wolverhampton Wanderers.

With uncertainty around the futures of Casemiro and Kobbie Mainoo, Neves could be a valuable addition to the side for the next three to four years.

If Neves is willing to accept reduced wage demands, there is little reason why INEOS should not aggressively pursue a deal next month.
