£80m Man Utd star set to return from injury, Amorim will be delighted

Manchester United could soon receive a major fitness boost during this festive period.

According to reliable insider Sully Talkz, Harry Maguire is closing in on a return to Man United from injury.

The England international has been doing individual on-ball grass training over the last week and is expected to join team training soon.

He has been absent since suffering a thigh injury in the dramatic 2–2 draw with Tottenham Hotspur last month.

Manager Ruben Amorim will be delighted to have Maguire back, especially with several senior players already unavailable.

Bryan Mbeumo, Amad Diallo and Noussair Mazraoui are on international duty at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Bruno Fernandes, Kobbie Mainoo and Matthijs de Ligt are also nursing injuries.

There is also lingering concern over Mason Mount, who was withdrawn at half-time in the Newcastle win as a precaution.

As Maguire returns after spending more than a month on the sidelines, Amorim may ease him into the action through substitute appearances.

The Portuguese coach has consistently adopted this cautious approach when reintegrating players returning from injury.

The £80 million signing scored the dramatic winning goal at Anfield this season, one of many crucial goals he has netted over the last 24 months.

United have yet to open talks over a new deal, leaving Maguire with a clear point to prove.

The coming six months could be pivotal as he looks to demonstrate that he still offers immense value to Amorim’s squad.

With the rise of Ayden Heaven, United may allow Maguire to depart.
