Re: Dion Sanderson
KrobluesTamnewblueInteresting to look back sometimes on games like that. We played some nice stuff (like for that first handball goal). That Bacuna chap was impressive. Though it’s a truism that all goals we conceive are poor, and the goals we score are well-worked, we are playing statues a lot there. We have players back but just aren’t tight. Mind you, look at that assist for our second.
That bunch of players should not have been relegated. As you say, where do you start (probably best not to).
I thought at the time that that squad in terms of overall ability was the best that we'd had since the Hughton season. I was a big fan of Bacuna - frustrating at times, but an antidote to the 'identikit' type of player that fill most sides. As you say, they shouldn't have been relegated. A combination of bad decisions, and downright bad luck. Ah well, onwards and upwards.
Under a semi- competent manager they’d have finished on about 60 points imo and we’d have said it was a great season. As it was, they had a vaguely sentient chimp for 15 games and an assistant who was, sadly, out of his depth for another 6.
