Serie A official line-ups: Napoli vs. Juventus

0 0

Luciano Spalletti returns to face his old club for the first time since winning the Scudetto, but both Juventus and Napoli are dealing with a growing injury crisis forcing big changes.

It kicks off at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona at 19.45 GMT.

You can follow all the build-up and action as it happens from today’s Serie A games on the Liveblog.

This is an opportunity for Juve to get back into the title race, just a week after Napoli retook top spot alongside AC Milan with their massive victory away to previous leaders Roma.

It’s also an emotional one for Spalletti, who hadn’t faced the Partenopei since winning the Scudetto in 2023.

Curiously, it is the first time ever that Spalletti and Antonio Conte have been opposing coaches in a competitive match.

Dusan Vlahovic and Federico Gatti both had surgery this week and are out for a while, joining Gleison Bremer, Daniele Rugani and ex-Napoli striker Arek Milik on the absentee list.

While he was expected to choose between Jonathan David and Lois Openda upfront, Spalletti has instead benched them both, preferring Kenan Yildiz as a centre-forward, with Wes McKennie in a more advanced role.

Teun Koopmeiners is again in the back three.

Stanislav Lobotka limped off during Napoli’s midweek Coppa Italia sudden death penalty shoot-out win over Cagliari, joining Billy Gilmour, Andre Frank Zambo Anguissa, Miguel Gutierrez, Kevin De Bruyne, Alex Meret and Romelu Lukaku on the treatment table.

Eljif Elmas takes over in midfield with Scott McTominay, as David Neres and Noa Lang again flank Rasmus Hojlund.
