Yoshinobu Yamamoto Wins World Series MVP As Dodgers Become First Repeat Champs Since 2000
The Los Angeles Dodgers have won the 2025 World Series, becoming the first repeat champions since the New York Yankees in 2000. In one of the greatest World Series of all time, capped off by one of the greatest baseball games of all time in an epic Game 7, the Dodgers came from behind against the Toronto Blue Jays to win by a score of 5-4 in 11 innings.
Game 7 heroes for the Dodgers included Max Muncy and Miguel Rojas, whose solo homers got LA back in the game late. Then there was Will Smith, who hit the go-ahead jack in the top of the 11th. But Yoshinobu Yamamoto maintained his main character status for the Dodgers up until the very last moment, as he miraculously threw 34 pitches in relief (2 2/3 innings) just 24 hours after starting Game 6 and throwing 96 pitches.
Yamamoto was named World Series MVP for his unbelievable series, which included a 3-0 record with an ERA of 1.02 and 15 strikeouts in three appearances (17 2/3 innings pitched).
Yamamoto became the first pitcher ever to win three games on the road in a World Series, as well as the first pitcher ever to win Game 6 and 7 of a World Series on the road.
It’s hard not to consider Yamamoto the best pitcher in baseball at the moment.
