Tom Brady Applauded Shohei Ohtani’s Historic Game Before World Series

One sports icon celebrated another when Tom Brady reacted to Shohei Ohtani’s once-in-a-lifetime MLB performance.

Ohtani snapped out of a postseason hitting slump last Friday, crushing three home runs in a National League Championship Series win over the Milwaukee Brewers. The Los Angeles Dodgers superstar also helped complete the sweep by registering 10 strikeouts over six shutout innings in Game 4.

Brady put the historic game into perspective during a “Story Time With Tom” video produced by Fox Sports.

“I think it’s one of the greatest sporting achievements ever,” Brady declared. ” … Performing the way he did is just absolutely incredible.”

Ohtani unsurprisingly became the first player in MLB history (regular season and postseason) to hit three home runs and collect 10 strikeouts in a single game. The two-way phenom was named NLCS MVP despite going 2-for-11 with three walks and five strikeouts in the previous three games.

Brady never played elite defense for the New England Patriots, so the legendary quarterback can’t entirely relate to Ohtani’s unforgettable outing. Still, the seven-time Super Bowl champion had his share of memorable games.

The former Patriots star recalled throwing six touchdown passes in a 59-0 win over the Tennessee Titans in 2009. Brady also remembered New England scoring on every possession in a 56-10 road win over the Buffalo Bills in 2007.

For other incredible football feats, Brady mentioned Peyton Manning’s seven-touchdown game to start the 2013 season, Adrian Peterson’s single-game rushing record of 296 yards, and Julio Jones’ 300-yard receiving game. Brady, who grew up a San Francisco 49ers fan, also gave props to Joe Montana’s performance in Super Bowl XIX.

Ohtani has a tall act to follow when he leads the Dodgers in pursuit of their second straight World Series title. Game 1 against the Toronto Blue Jays starts Friday at 8 p.m. ET on Fox.
