Stefon Diggs Snaps Franchise Drought In Patriots’ Statement Win

Stefon Diggs is starting to look awfully comfortable in the New England Patriots’ offense.

After amassing 101 receiving yards in a breakout game against the Carolina Panthers, Diggs one-upped himself on primetime. The wide receiver caught 10 of 12 targets for 146 yards in Sunday’s 23-20 win over his former team, the Buffalo Bills.

With that momentous outing, Diggs accomplished a feat for the first time in the post-Tom Brady era. Diggs became the first Patriots player to record 100 receiving yards in consecutive games since Julian Edelman in 2019.

Returning from an ACL tear that ended his 2024 campaign last October, Diggs totalled 112 yards in his first three games with the Patriots. The four-time Pro Bowler has since transformed into Drake Maye’s top target.

He may not be the same player who exceeded 100 catches in each of his four seasons with the Bills, but Diggs has displayed more explosiveness in recent weeks. Eight of Sunday’s catches resulted in first downs, including gains of 32 and 30 yards in the second half.

Diggs last eclipsed 100 yards in consecutive games when doing so four straight times early in the 2023 season with Buffalo. He collected his highest single-game tally since notching 148 yards in a huge road win over the Kansas City Chiefs on Oct. 16, 2023.

Maye celebrated his star receiver’s “storybook” return to Orchard Park after the win, per ESPN’s Mike Reiss.

“Coming back here, first game (since Buffalo traded him), prime time, you could see it all week,” Maye said. “He just loves football. He has a lot in the tank left. It’s good he’s a Patriot.”
