Tottenham half-time ratings vs Burnley as 8/10 forward impresses in Premier League opener

0 5

The half-time whistle has blown between Tottenham and Burnley in Thomas Frank’s Premier League opener as Spurs boss, and the player ratings are in.

Tottenham half-time player ratings vs Burnley

Guglielmo Vicario – No real threats on his goal so far, meaning the Italian has not been called into action too often. Comfortable playing out from the back and assured whenever involved. Struggled to deal with one spinning, deflected shot and could only palm it behind. 6.

Pedro Porro – Still conservative as a full-back in this tie, preferring to create from deep with crosses rather than bombing forward. 7.

Cristian Romero – Spurs have held a high line, and their captain has relished it, aggressive in the tackle both on the ground and in the air. Gave the ball away a fair few times and walked the tightrope of a yellow card. 6.

Micky Van de Ven – Looks sharp and ready to accelerate when called upon. Was quick to prevent Lye Foster from going through on goal with his pace late on in the first-half. 7.

Djed Spence – The one tucking in closest to the Tottenham centre-backs during build-up, allowing Spurs to progress the ball smoothly. Yet to offer much in attack. 7.

Archie GraySitting deepest in midfield, he hasn’t put a foot wrong so far. Shielded the back four, nipped in with interceptions and kept play ticking from deep. 7.

Lucas BergvallBright start. Involved straight away, controlling neatly in the box before firing at Dubravka inside the opening minute. Energetic and tidy on the ball for Tottenham. 7.

Mohammed KudusSpurs’ most dangerous outlet in the first half. Beat his man on the wing and delivered a superb cross for Richarlison’s opener. Creative and sharp. 8.

Pape Matar SarrOperating in a deeper role, focused on regaining possession in midfield. Disciplined and effective in breaking up play for Tottenham. 7.

Brennan JohnsonSaw little of the ball with Spurs’ attacks largely down the opposite flank. Worked hard off it, but struggled to make an impact going forward. 6.

RicharlisonOpened the scoring inside ten minutes, peeling off defenders and finishing smartly with a controlled volley. A proper striker’s goal. 8.
