Boston Celebrity Spotted Filming New TV Show At Fenway Park During Red Sox Game
The Boston Red Sox are a hot ticket these days, and there have already been several celebrity sightings at Fenway Park this summer.
In July, actors Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner were spotted with their kids at a Red Sox game against the Tampa Bay Rays.
While they were just enjoying the game as fans, fellow actor Donnie Wahlberg had to work during Tuesday’s game against the Kansas City Royals.
Wahlberg, who’s been shooting scenes around Boston recently for his upcoming TV show “Boston Blue” on CBS, got to film a scene at Fenway Park on Tuesday evening.
The show, a spin-off of “Blue Bloods,” returns Wahlberg as NYPD detective Danny Reagan, who joins the Boston Police Department in the new series. Unfortunately for Wahlberg — a massive Boston sports fan — his character is a New Yorker.
Accordingly, the 55-year-old star had to remove his Red Sox jersey for the scene, revealing a New York Mets shirt underneath.
Prior to the game, Wahlberg spoke about the show and Boston’s season in an interview with former Red Sox players Ryan Dempster and Kevin Millar on MLB Network.
“I’ve been following this team hard this year. Enjoying the youth movement and the leadership of (Alex) Bregman and (Trevor) Story. And it’s just been, what a ride this year,” Wahlberg said. “I’m hoping that they keep it going, obviously, but it’s been really fun to watch this team rally and the city rally behind them.”
Wahlberg got to see Boston’s seventh straight win — a 6-2 victory over the Royals — on Tuesday night behind another gem from Garrett Crochet and three RBI from Story, improving the team’s record to 64-51.
With the Red Sox on fire and an electric atmosphere at Fenway Park, Wahlberg picked a great game to attend and a good time to come home.
