Vinícius Jr. breaks silence with bold statement amid Real Madrid contract renewal drama

Vinícius requested to earn the same salary as the French superstar, only to be firmly denied by the club due to concerns over the impact on their wage structure.

The 2024/25 season was far from ideal for Real Madrid, even with the high-profile arrival of Kylian Mbappé. Amid this backdrop and ahead of the new campaign, Vinícius Júnior is currently in advanced talks to extend his contract long-term. However, the Brazilian’s demands are reportedly too steep for the club, and now he has broken his silence.

In the middle of negotiations—where Vinícius requested to earn the same salary as the French superstar, only to be firmly denied by the club due to concerns over the impact on their wage structure—the former Flamengo forward publicly shared his thoughts on the ongoing situation that has captured the attention of European soccer.

In an interview with GQ magazine, Vinícius confidently stated, “I’ve already achieved a lot.” Staying on message, the 25-year-old added, “My dreams are far from over. I want to win more trophies with my club, win the most important competitions with the national team, and continue to inspire the next generation to believe in themselves.”

While taking part in a fashion shoot for the publication, the explosive winger expanded on his mindset. I try to stay focused, be humble, and remember where I came from, he said, underscoring his grounded attitude despite the contract drama swirling around him.

And as expected, Vini capped off his remarks with a powerful statement about his long-term aspirations. Despite recent speculation linking him with a potential move to the Saudi Pro League, known for its massive contracts, the Brazilian made his intentions clear: My biggest dream is to leave behind a legacy that goes beyond soccer.”

As of now, Vinícius initially asked to earn more than Mbappé at Real Madrid, but the club rejected the proposal outright. He then asked for equal pay, but once again received a firm no. With no updates yet, the negotiations remain in limbo, though his current deal runs through June 30, 2027.

Vinícius Júnior’s numbers with Real Madrid

Since arriving from Flamengo for €45 million, Vinícius has played 322 official matches for Los Blancos, scoring 106 goals and delivering 83 assists. During his time at the club, he has won 14 trophies—seven domestic and seven international—including two UEFA Champions League titles, where he was one of the standout performers.
