Conte and Di Lorenzo make special Napoli dedications to fans
Antonio Conte tells thousands of Napoli fans that ‘it is our duty to make you proud’ after securing the Scudetto, while captain Giovanni Di Lorenzo makes a touching tribute.
The Partenopei have for several years had their pre-season training camp in the mountains in Dimaro, and this evening they held an event with over 5,500 supporters present.
They showed off the Serie A trophy and the new kits that have the Scudetto symbol on the chest as reigning Champions of Italy.
Conte and Di Lorenzo salute Napoli supporters
“It is wonderful to see you all again after a year, now with the Scudetto on our jersey,” said Conte from the stage.
“Those who are here must understand what it means to have a sense of belonging. It is our duty to make you proud of us every game. No matter the result, we will always leave the field with shirts drenched in sweat.”
Last season represented the second Napoli Scudetto in the space of three years, interrupted by an Inter victory in 2024.
It was a campaign of celebration, but also one of tragedy, because just weeks before the title success in January 2025, 13-year-old supporter and unofficial team mascot Daniele lost his battle with leukaemia.
He had been a regular in the training ground and became friends with several of the players and coach Conte since his diagnosis in 2023.
“I wanted to send a special hug to Danielino’s family, as this is the first time we’re having the pre-season retreat without him,” said captain Di Lorenzo in tonight’s event.
“He fought like a lion and gave us such a push to keep going.”
