Fenerbahce Sign Jhon Duran on Loan from Al-Nassr
Colombian striker Jhon Duran has completed a one-year loan move to Turkish giants Fenerbahce from Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr. The 21-year-old forward continues his rapid journey through top-flight football, having transferred from Aston Villa to Al-Nassr just six months ago in a high-profile £71 million deal.
Duran arrives in Istanbul with an impressive recent scoring record. He netted 12 goals in 29 appearances for Aston Villa during the 2023-24 season and continued his fine form in Saudi Arabia, scoring 12 times in just 18 games for Al-Nassr. Despite his output, the Colombian was unable to cement a long-term role at either club, often playing behind more established forwards.
His time at Villa was marked by competition with England striker Ollie Watkins, which limited his starting opportunities. Of his 78 total appearances for the Premier League club, 61 came from the bench. Still, Duran showcased potential that attracted big-name clubs across multiple leagues.
Now under the guidance of veteran manager José Mourinho at Fenerbahce, Duran will aim to make a more consistent impact. The Turkish side, who finished second in the league last season, will be looking to the young striker to provide a clinical edge as they push for the title.
Duran also has international experience, with three goals in 17 appearances for Colombia. His blend of youth, pace, and a sharp eye for goal makes him a promising addition to Mourinho’s squad. As Al-Nassr retain the services of Cristiano Ronaldo for another two years, Duran’s move provides him a platform to shine in Europe once again this time in the Turkish Super Lig.
