Tottenham will only go back in for Antoine Semenyo under one unlikely condition

0 6

A new report has shed light on why Tottenham Hotspur have changed their mind on Antoine Semenyo and what it would take for the Lilywhites to make an offer for the Bournemouth man.

It was reported last month that Tottenham have identified Semenyo as the ideal choice to replace Heung-min Son, but the situation appears to have changed completely over the last few weeks.

The Athletic claimed two weeks ago that Spurs may call off their pursuit of Semenyo due to Bournemouth’s high asking price, and that is exactly what seems to have happened.

At the start of last week, a number of sources reported that Tottenham are pressing ahead with a move for Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze.

However, the Lilywhites seem to have changed their minds once again as West Ham’s Mohammed Kudus has emerged as Spurs’ top target over the last 48 hours.

What will it take for Tottenham to go back in for Antoine Semenyo?

It has now been confirmed by talkSPORT that Tottenham Hotspur did take a serious look at the Bournemouth star a few weeks ago before deciding to prioritise other attackers instead.

The outlet explains that the main reason Spurs decided to abandon their pursuit of Semenyo is that the Cherries wanted more than £65m for the winger.

That could have potentially made the Ghana international a club-record signing for Spurs, beating out the £65m they paid the South Coast club for Dominic Solanke last summer.

The report adds that Thomas Frank’s men will not revisit a deal for Semenyo this summer unless Bournemouth drop their asking price. However, with Semenyo signing a new Bournemouth contract until 2030, it seems extremely unlikely that he will be leaving this summer.

Tottenham are going full steam ahead to sign Mohammed Kudus

It is now being reported by a number of sources that Tottenham are now advancing on a deal Kudus, who could become the first player since Scott Parker in 2011 to make a switch from West Ham to Spurs.

It has emerged that West Ham are ready to sell Kudus to Spurs for £60m due to their PSR issues, with the East London club prepared to break their policy of not dealing with the Lilywhites.

Spurs fans on social media are understandably excited about the Kudus rumours, with many believing that he would be a better addition than the likes of Eze or Semenyo.
