Four Tottenham stars enter final year of their contracts, all four have been linked with exits

0 3

Four Tottenham players are now heading into the final year of their contracts, with uncertainty mounting over their futures amid serious interest from clubs across Europe and beyond. The club could be forced into big decisions.

Tottenham Hotspur have to make big decisions regarding the players to buy and sell this summer transfer window. In fact, we have already seen Spurs complete three deals this window, with Mathys Tel, Kevin Danso, and Kota Takai all joining the Lilywhites.

In terms of sales, we have Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg’s obligation-to-buy clause met by Marseille, while Timo Werner, Sergio Reguilon, Alfie Whiteman and Fraser Forster have all been released, with Spurs now set to save £15.6 million in annual wages after those four players’ decisions.

Still, there could be more exits this summer, as a few of Tottenham’s players have just one year left on their current deal and are attracting interest from clubs across the globe. Here are the four players.

Tottenham captain Heung-min Son is attracting interest

It is no news that Tottenham’s captain, Heung-min Son, could leave the club this summer, as the Korean winger is currently attracting interest from clubs within Europe and the Middle East.

Fenerbahce, where former Spurs boss Jose Mourinho is currently managing, are said to be interested in bringing the 32-year-old winger to Turkey, with reports stating that Mourinho and Son have held talks.

Meanwhile, Al Ahli, Al Nassr and Al Qadsiah are also reportedly keen on signing Heung-min Son, with a figure of £34 million being mentioned as a possible fee that could be enough to prise him away from north London.

However, Tottenham are not looking to force out its club legend, and although the feeling around Spurs is that Son could leave this summer, it would be on his terms.

Ben Davies wanted by Leeds United and Wrexham

Another long-serving Tottenham man currently in the final year of his contract is Ben Davies, whose one-year clause was triggered earlier this summer before his previous deal expired.

The Welshman, who has spent over a decade in north London and made over 300 Premier League appearances, is attracting interest from several clubs.

It was reported recently that Leeds United could make a move for Davies this summer, while Wrexham, who were just promoted to the Championship, are also considering an approach for Ben Davies, as they look to build a squad capable of pushing for Premier League promotion.

Yves Bissouma linked with Fenerbahce move

Yves Bissouma is another player at Tottenham with one year left on his current contract, which expires next summer.

It is believed that Spurs are looking to cash in on Bissouma this transfer window following crunch talks that reportedly took place back in March.

The midfielder endured an inconsistent campaign last season, and while his performances in the Europa League semi-final and final offered glimpses of quality, Tottenham are still open to letting him go.

Fenerbahce are said to be interested in signing Bissouma on loan with an option to buy, though Spurs would prefer a permanent deal.

Rodrigo Bentancur on Atletico Madrid’s radar

Rodrigo Bentancur is another player whose contract expires next summer, and Bentancur has since been attracting interest from Spanish side Atletico Madrid.

While the Uruguayan could depart, it remains to be seen whether Atletico will make a move, particularly as Diego Simeone’s men are already closing in on a deal for Johnny Cardoso from Real Betis.

Should the American international join Atletico, their interest in Bentancur could very well cool off. Tottenham are keen to offer Rodrigo Bentancur a new deal, with preliminary talks having begun in February, although progress has since stalled.
