Como have "tried to sign" £105k per week United star with 14 G/A in 2025 - Fabrizio Romano
Manchester United have been active during the early phase of the summer transfer window.
They have already bolstered their attack with the acquisition of Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Talks are also ongoing with Brentford for the potential transfer of Bryan Mbeumo, who is keen on joining the club.
Meanwhile, United need to compensate for summer signings with departures to stay within the Profit and Sustainability Rules.
Fabrizio Romano claims that Serie A side Como have ‘tried to sign‘ Antony in ‘recent days’.
However, the 25-year-old would prefer to rejoin Real Betis after a productive loan stint with the La Liga outfit earlier this year.
United are also aware of the player’s stance on his future, but there is no club-to-club agreement at the current point in time.
Antony could depart on another loan deal
The right-sided winger signed for Betis on a short-term loan in January last year after falling out of favour under manager Ruben Amorim.
He had a good spell with the Andalusian club, registering 14 goal contributions from just 26 appearances across all competitions for them.
Betis are keen on re-signing him this summer, but a permanent deal looks unlikely on the cards.
Denilson was the Spanish club’s record signing at £25.6 million way back in 1998. Borja Iglesias is the second on the list for a package of £24m.
United may want more to part ways with Antony after his exploits with Betis. If Antony refuses to change his stance, another loan deal could materialise.
Betis paid £51,000 per week to Antony earlier this year. The Red Devils may want them to contribute a higher percentage of his £105,000 per week wages.
A season-long loan could benefit United. If Antony were to impress again in La Liga, the club could receive lucrative bids for his permanent transfer next summer.
