Tottenham fans instant reaction to Heung-min Son’s future says it all, ‘leaves a legend’

0 0

Tottenham fans have reacted to the latest news of Heung-min Son departing the club this summer following interest from Saudi Arabia.

It was only revealed a few hours ago that Tottenham Hotspur are set to let Heung-min Son depart this summer after a decade-long service to the N17 club.

Indeed, the Spurs captain has etched his name into Tottenham folklore after delivering silverware to north London, following a 17-year wait for a major honour.

The Korean forward has a year left on his current deal after Son extended his contract for an extra season in January, but it is now reported that Spurs are open to cashing in amid interest from Saudi Arabia.

What Tottenham fans are saying about Heung-min Son’s potential exit

Heung-min Son did not have the best of seasons at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium during the 2024/25 campaign, after he managed just 11 goals and 12 assists in 46 appearances.

The forward did have his fair share of injuries to contend with, after a foot injury kept him out for a month during the business end of the season and out of the starting XI of the Europa League, with Son helping the team out as a substitute.

With news about his potential departure now well-known among the Lilywhites faithful, many fans have taken to social media to share their reactions. Many believe that now is the right time for both parties to bid each other farewell.

One fan said: “Perfect time for him to leave. Legend” another stated: “Honestly if he and the club get the Saudi bag and he leaves a legend, it is perfect”

Another agrees now is the perfect time for Son to leave, but questions the club’s reason for it: “It makes sense for him to leave now, but it does not make sense that he would need to leave for funds. We have just qualified for the Champions League and apparently all funds generated from the stadium are reinvested back into the team”

Another mentioned how much he is willing to let Son go for: “120 mil from Saudi then please”.

Still on the selling to buy and lack of funds, one fan said: “I get it, but we should not need to sell to buy after a full Europa League run and Champions League group money to come”

Another fan chimed in: “Make sense tbf. Leave on a high, last chance for the club to get some cash for him too…” Another fan said: “I think it is time for him to go. Painful rebuild needs him to go as he is past his best and only going to get worse”

Spurs’ business model under spotlight as Heung-min Son decision looms

Of course, from a business perspective, it makes perfect sense for the club to be open to selling the winger this transfer window, instead of letting him go on a free next summer.

Spurs are said to be in for a major overhaul, with departures and changes expected both on and off the pitch, and it seems all of that could already be in full swing.

We have seen Spurs appoint a new CEO in Vinai Venkatesham, we have seen executive Donna-Maria Cullen leave Tottenham after two decades at the club, Fabio Paratici is expected to return as sporting director, and now the club captain could be heading out.

Indeed, Ange Postecoglou’s place in the Spurs dugout is under scrutiny, and a major change could be expected in the coming weeks, with reports stating that Spurs have decided to sack the Australian.

While these changes are taking place, one would be hoping that similar changes are brought to the first team, as it has been reported that marquee signings would be made by Tottenham and several positions in the Spurs squad are set to be improved this summer.
