Fede Valverde injured: Real Madrid could lose another player ahead of the FIFA Club World Cup

0 8
Real Madrid issued an official statement confirming Valverde’s condition, saying he had been diagnosed with lumbosciatica and would be monitored closely. While no exact return date was given, the club and internal sources expect him to miss around one week of action.

Real Madrid midfielder Fede Valverde is set to take a short break from competition after being diagnosed with lumbosciatica, a condition that causes lower back pain radiating down the leg. The Uruguayan international completed the full 90 minutes in Saturday’s La Liga clash against Real Sociedad but reported discomfort following the match. On Sunday, he underwent medical tests to determine the cause of the pain.

Following the examination, Real Madrid issued an official statement, confirming the injury and its current status:

“Following tests carried out today on our player Fede Valverde by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with lumbosciatica. His recovery will be monitored.”

Although the club did not provide a specific timeline for his return, internal sources estimate that Valverde will be sidelined for roughly one week. The diagnosis is not considered serious, and the expectation is that he will recover in time to join the squad for the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup, where he is expected to play a central role under new manager Xabi Alonso.

Valverde has been one of the most relied-upon players in the Real Madrid squad during the 2024–25 season, enduring a grueling calendar packed with domestic and international fixtures. He has featured in 59 of the team’s 62 matches across all competitions, making him the most-used player this season.

Toward the end of the campaign, Valverde had been playing through several physical issues, especially muscle-related discomfort. These challenges came as a result of the team’s injury crisis, which left former coach Carlo Ancelotti with few options and forced key players like Valverde to push their limits. His work rate, versatility, and stamina were critical to helping Madrid stay competitive throughout the season.

The timing of the injury comes just before Real Madrid’s final preparations for the expanded Club World Cup, a tournament that holds significant importance both competitively and financially for the club. With a short recovery window and no complications expected, Valverde is expected to be fully fit and available, offering a valuable presence in midfield.

Given his durability, tactical awareness, and leadership on the pitch, Valverde remains one of the pillars of Real Madrid’s long-term project. While the sciatic issue is a minor setback, the medical staff and coaching team are confident he’ll return in top form for the final stretch of the season and the global tournament ahead.
