What Jaylen Brown Can Do For Celtics Legacy After Jayson Tatum Injury

Jaylen Brown has the chance to play hero in a potential final ride with the Boston Celtics.

The superteam trails 3-1 in the second-round series against the New York Knicks and moves forward, potentially for next season as well, without Jayson Tatum, who ruptured his right Achilles tendon in Monday’s Game 4 loss.

There’s a chance that’s the last game Tatum and Brown both play in Celtics uniforms together. Boston’s expensive roster is due for a salary-shedding shakeup this summer, which could have Brown in the mix. That shouldn’t be the focus yet because while the chances to come back in the series are slim, the series certainly isn’t over for the Celtics.

There’s still plenty of capable talent, but Boston does need more from its starters. Brown shot just 25% from three-point range in Game 4 with a handful of turnovers. He has to lead through his play and produce like a superstar to give the Celtics any chance to stun the Knicks and keep the hopes of repeating alive.

Now, Brown already showed he can do that. This is the reigning Eastern Conference finals and NBA Finals MVP that we’re talking about here. The Celtics need an ignited spark and Brown has to show he can provide it.

Brown and Tatum always did it together, but this is a chance for Brown to boost his resume as a No. 1 if he can lead the Celtics out of an insurmountable hole.
