Patriots’ Drake Maye Gives Funny Reaction To Will Campbell Quote

The New England Patriots were long known as an organization without much personality, but that has all changed in the last few years.

Drake Maye and Will Campbell are making sure of it.

Campbell started his career with a home run quote just minutes after being selected No. 4 in the 2025 NFL Draft, telling NFL Network’s Jamie Erdahl that he’s “gonna fight and die to protect” quarterback Drake Maye.

Maye, who has been known to drop some whoppers, as well, followed that up with the perfect response.

“I listened to it live,” Maye told reporters during his media availability on Thursday, per team-provided video. “It gets you going, gets your juices going. I think it makes you want to go out there and play football now. I’m pumped that we picked Will. We got a chance to meet him when he flew in on Friday, so I’m pumped to get things going. Obviously, he seems like a football player. That’s what you want around here.”

The Patriots certainly are excited about their two latest first-round picks, and will be in good shape if they turn out to be as good on the field as their quotes are off of it.
