Journalist issues interesting update on Tottenham’s pursuit of Dean Huijsen
Dean Huijsen, who is quickly emerging as a Premier League star, is confirmed as one of the names at the top of Tottenham’s summer wishlist.
If reports over the last couple of weeks are to be believed, Tottenham are likely to lose their vice-captain Cristian Romero amidst strong interest from Atletico Madrid.
If that is the case, the Lilywhites would be expected to prioritise signing a marquee centre-back to fill the void left by the Argentine’s departure, and they might turn their attention to a teenager centre-back, who is going from strength to strength in the Premier League.
It has been widely reported over recent months that Tottenham are big fans of Bournemouth defender Dean Huijsen, who is having a stellar first season in England following his move from Juventus last summer.
Sky journalist confirms Tottenham interest in Dean Huijsen
Winning the race for the 19-year-old will not be easy for Tottenham, as it has been reported that Spurs are facing competition from several big clubs across Europe for Dean Huijsen.
However, Sky journalist Paul Gilmour has confirmed that the North Londoners are very much part of the queue for the Bournemouth man, explaining that the club view it as too lucrative a deal not to pursue.
Gilmour said on Sky Sports Transfer Talk Podcast: “But Dean Huijsen, going back to him, he’s definitely on a Tottenham list. I think the way it was put to me is it would be a bit negligent if a player of that quality with a release clause, if you’re not seen to be going for them, whether they’ve got a chance of getting them.”
Huijsen is expected to remain in the Premier League
It was revealed by David Ornstein earlier this month that while Huijsen is attracting interest from Real Madrid, he is expected to remain in the Premier League.
The Athletic journalist claimed that Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, and Newcastle have all reached out to Dean Huijsen’s representatives about a transfer.
One would think that Spurs would need to achieve Champions League qualification to have a realistic shot of beating those clubs to the Spain international’s signature.
