39-year-old manager open to replacing Farke at Leeds United
Former Southampton manager Russell Martin could reportedly be in the frame to replace Daniel Farke at Leeds United.
Farke has just guided Leeds to promotion to the Premier League, having narrowly missed out last season with that defeat to Southampton in the playoff final.
Martin didn’t end up lasting that long with the Saints in the top flight, and they’re now heading back down to the Championship for next season.
Still, it seems Martin is surprisingly in line to replace Farke as Leeds are rumoured to be seriously considering making a change in the Elland Road dugout this summer.
Despite Farke getting Leeds promoted, it seems there are some concerns about how he’d do in the Premier League in what will likely be a relegation battle next season.
Should Leeds United replace Daniel Farke as they prepare for life in the Premier League?
Farke would be pretty unlucky to lose his job after just gaining Leeds promotion, but there might also be some logic to it.
Getting up from the Championship to the Premier League is one thing, but staying in the Premier League once you’re there is a whole different kind of challenge.
All three newly-promoted sides went straight back down this season, so Leeds might be looking at that and thinking they need to make changes to ensure they don’t do the same.
There could be managers out there with more Premier League experience who could help LUFC, though, in fairness, Martin isn’t exactly the most exciting name.
Having fared so poorly when he got Southampton into the top flight, it seems strange to now think he could do a significantly better job for Leeds.
