Manchester United fell 1-0 to Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League at Old Trafford.

Pablo Sarabia’s stunning 77th-minute free-kick proved decisive, sealing the win and completing Wolves’ first league double over United since the 1979-80 season.

United head coach Ruben Amorim rotated his side heavily after the thrilling victory over Lyon in mid-week.

While Harry Amass was named in the starting XI for the second time, centre-back Tyler Fredricson made his senior United debut.

Amorim admitted that the youngsters “deserve” a better result after putting on impressive displays.

He said to Sky Sports after game (via BBC Sport): “I think they played really well. We need to score goals so that the kids have better memories. These days are really disappointing.

“We were better than the opponents but if you don’t score goals, you don’t win games. They deserve better memories from their first game.

“They did so many good things but people will just remember the result. That is the price of playing for a massive club like this.”

Fredricson and Amass showed great maturity

Fredricson started in the left centre-back spot in the absence of Lisandro Martinez and Ayden Heaven.

Leny Yoro was given a much-needed rest after playing 120 minutes against Lyon.

The 20-year-old won a remarkable 12 duels, effectively silencing Strand Larsen and stamping his authority on the game.

He completed 100% of his long balls and boasted a 93% overall passing accuracy, showcasing the kind of on-ball confidence rarely seen in a debutant.

His performance could force Amorim to use the centre-back regularly in the English top-flight for the remainder of the campaign.

Amass once again proved his potential with a composed and energetic display in the left wing-back spot.

His confident performance made it clear that former manager Erik ten Hag may have erred by not giving him a first-team chance sooner.

The 18-year-old completed four progressive passes into the final third and won nine duels, frequently pushing Wolves back with his bold attacking runs.

He whipped in three dangerous crosses, begging for a striker’s touch, but none of the United attackers read the delivery in time.

With a wand of a left foot and sharp attacking instincts, Amass looks destined to rack up assists, provided United find a striker who can command the six-yard box.
