Tottenham face competition from Chelsea to sign Bellingham this summer

Chelsea have entered the race to sign Tottenham target Jobe Bellingham, with a new report shedding light on the West London club’s plans for the Sunderland star when the transfer window reopens in the summer.

Many Spurs fans might feel that strengthening the midfield department should be one of the club’s priorities in the summer, given the struggles Tottenham have had in the middle of the park.

That was demonstrated in the first half against Bournemouth as a midfielder trio of Yves Bissouma, Rodrigo Bentancur and Pape Sarr struggled to progress the ball up the pitch, with Tottenham only getting going as a creative force after the introduction of James Maddison and Lucas Bergvall.

It has been widely reported over recent months that to address their issues, and Tottenham are ready to press ahead with a move for Sunderland starlet Jobe Bellingham.

However, The Sun have now revealed that Spurs are now expected to face competition from Chelsea, who have become the latest club to enter the race for the Real Madrid star’s younger brother.

The report claims that the Blues are looking to add young English players to the squad and Todd Boehly is ready to back Enzo Maresca by securing the services of Bellingham.

The West London club are reportedly set to make a ‘top offer’ for the 19-year-old in the summer, with the teenager viewed as a ‘game changer’ by the Stamford Bridge hierarchy.

The report goes on the say that apart from Tottenham and Chelsea, Crystal Palace are also fans of the Sunderland youngster, while Borussia Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen are also on his trail.

It is revealed that the Black Cats are hopeful of keeping hold of the midfielder if they manage to win promotion to the Premier League.

However, Regis Le Bris’s side, who currently sit in the playoff spots, will be helpless to stop the youngster from leaving if they fail to go up.
