Setback for Man Utd, European giants 'hesitant' to sign want-away forward this month - report

0 4

Manchester United have hit a major roadblock in their quest to lighten their heavy wage bill.

According to Manchester Evening News, Barcelona are hesitant about forcing through a loan move for Rashford this month but would be interested in signing him permanently in the summer.

The report further revealed that Barcelona sporting director Deco is not “overly eager to conclude a deal for Rashford before Monday’s transfer deadline”.

The England international is pocketing a staggering £325,000 each week, yet his on-field contributions have hardly matched the price tag.

Manager Ruben Amorim has axed him from the squad after questioning his commitment to the club.

Rashford’s last appearance for United came on December 12th in the Europa League.

Amorim has mentioned that the 27-year-old must change if he wants to play for the club again.

Rashford has expressed his desire for a new challenge elsewhere which has not gone well with the United faithful.

Many former United players, including Wayne Rooney, have come out and advised the forward to leave the club.

Unfortunately, the Englishman has failed to find a new club due to his staggering wages.

Not many elite clubs can offer what he earns at United.

AC Milan and Borussia Dortmund have explored loan options but the former chose to sign Kyle Walker instead.

United are expected to cover part of his wages in any potential loan deal.

Rashford has rejected offers from Saudi Arabia and Tottenham Hotspur as “his heart is set” on a transfer to Barcelona.

With just three days left in the January transfer window, Rashford may find himself staying at United after all.
