Tottenham hint Ange Postecoglou will not be sacked today
Tottenham Hotspur have just dropped a huge hint about Ange Postecoglou’s immediate future at the club after the club’s latest loss to Leicester City.
Calls growing for Tottenham to pull the plug on Ange Postecoglou
The defeat against a Leicester City side, who had lost seven consecutive matches heading into Sunday’s game, was seemingly the final straw for many Spurs fans, who are now calling for the club to make a managerial change.
Tottenham have now just won just one of their last 10 Premier League matches and look in very real danger of being dragged into a relegation battle.
However, Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has said that the plan at Hotspur Way is not to sack Postecoglou immediately, with the club cognizant of the fact that the Australian has had to deal with a major injury crisis.
Tottenham send big hint about Postecoglou’s immediate future
The Sun have now revealed that Tottenham have passed on some big information that confirms Postecoglou will be in charge for the upcoming Europa League clash against Elfsborg on Thursday.
The pre-match press conference has been scheduled for Wednesday, and according to the outlet, Spurs have informed them it will be the Australian who will be in attendance.
That means that there are no plans at Hotspur Way to get rid of the 59-year-old with immediate effect, although it remains to be seen how much longer he will last if he does not arrest the team’s slide soon.
Why Spurs fans should not read too much into this development
While one can understand why The Sun see this information by Tottenham as evidence that Postecoglou will still be in charge by Wednesday, it would not be wise to read too much into it.
Even if Spurs were planning on sacking their head coach, they would not want to give away that information to the media before they have secured a replacement.
The club might well have already begun work on trying to find the former Celtic boss’s successor behind the scenes.
