Tottenham tried until the final moments to hijack Randal Kolo Muani deal
Randal Kolo Muani is now reportedly on his way to Juventus, but it has emerged that Tottenham Hotspur fought until the very last moment to hijack the deal for the striker.
Tottenham suffer huge Randal Kolo Muani transfer blow
It was clear that Randal Kolo Muani was Tottenham’s top striker target, which is why it comes as a big blow for the North London club to lose out on the Frenchman.
The expectation is that Muani is now headed to Turin on loan after Paris Saint-Germain reportedly struck an agreement with Juventus for the player’s transfer on Tuesday.
This claim is now being backed up by a number of reliable sources, who are all in agreement that it is only a matter of time before the transfer is made official.
Tottenham tried until the end to hijack the deal
This includes Fabrizio Romano, who has now given his infamous ‘here we go’ seal of approval to the transfer, explaining that the agreement has been ‘sealed’ and that Kolo Muani will now fly to Turin to complete his medical.
Interestingly, RMC Sport reporter Fabrice Hawkins claims that Spurs tried ‘until the last moment’ to hijack the deal.
He explains that the Premier League side ‘tried to convince’ the striker about a move to N17, but he was ‘finally seduced’ by Thiago Motta’s speech.
PSG seemingly changed their mind on Kolo Muani
Tottenham’s biggest trump card in the race for the PSG man was their stronger financial position compared to Juventus, with the North London club able to offer much more lucrative terms to the French club.
It was initially reported that PSG were insisting on a loan deal with an obligation to buy for £50m. The Bianconeri were never in a position to afford such a deal.
However, once the French club changed their mind and agreed to a straight loan, the Serie A giants always had the upper hand as they could offer Champions League football to Kolo Muani.
PSG might have felt that they would be able to get a bigger fee for Kolo Muani in the summer if the striker impresses on loan at the Allianz Stadium for the remainder of the season.
