Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly eyeing a move for a centre-forward who has found the back of the net on eight occasions in the Premier League so far this season.

Jonathan David speculation continues to intensify

David has just six months left on his contract at Lille and over recent weeks, a number of outlets have talked up the chance of the striker ending up at Spurs.

Some reports have suggested that the Lilywhites had launched an offer to bring the Canadian international to N17.

Meanwhile, other publications have claimed that Tottenham have held talks with David‘s representatives over a free transfer to the club next summer.

Tottenham prefer PL striker over David

However, ESPN reporter James Olley has now revealed that privately, sources close to Spurs have distanced themselves from the reports about their interest in David.

It is revealed that the Lilywhites are instead monitoring Wolves sensation Matheus Cunha, who has scored eight goals and provided three assists in 16 Premier League outings this season.

This is not the first time that Cunha has been mooted as a target for Spurs, with talkSPORT revealing last month that the North London club are circling around the Brazilian with the Midlands club desperate to hold onto the player.

Other clubs also want Matheus Cunha

Tottenham are expected to have a major transfer battle on their hands if they do push ahead with a move for the Wolves man.

This is because it was reported earlier this month that Arsenal, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain had all expressed an interest in the 25-year-old forward.

Meanwhile, Cunha has also been mooted as a target for Man Utd and the striker even sent a cryptic hint on social media suggesting that he might soon be on his way to Old Trafford.
