January transfer window offers Spurs a lifeline

Ange Postecolgou‘s men have been struggling with injuries of late, with the Australian himself admitting after the loss to Chelsea last that he needs help with new additions in January.

The upcoming window potentially offers the club a lifeline as they could potentially address a couple of areas where they are most affected by injuries and unavailabilities.

It turns out that the Lilywhites have now settled on what their top priorities would be next month.

Tottenham identify priority positions for transfers

This update comes from Football Insider, who say that Spurs have identified central midfield and central defence as the two areas where they are most in need of new additions.

The report explains that for the central midfield role, Inter Milan’s Davide Frattesi is one of the names on their list of Tottenham’s targets.

The Italy international, who has fallen down the pecking order at the Nerazzuri, is thought to be keen to leave San Siro in search of more regular first-team football.

Postecoglou is also thought to want a central defender, given the injuries Spurs have had in that position, with the club now set to step up their interest in their top defensive targets.

Postecoglou expected to be backed in January

Interestingly, Football Insider reveal that Spurs are aware that their January business ‘could make or break’ their season. They are thus expected to be busy next month as they look to address the weaknesses in their squad.

The outlet adds that Postecoglou retains the backing of Daniel Levy, who will look to support the Australian with the tools he needs to succeed at N7.
