I’d emphasise the point you agre with though. We fought a war over the Falklands that killed as many people who lived there just about and the cases of the future of Gibraltar and those N African Spanish colonies are worth nobodies death, in my opinion. Realities are created (and uncreated if you like) on the ground and recreating Konisberg is just not realistic. But thinking Gibraltar should be forever British strikes me as realistic as thinking Hong Kong would remain part of the UK. I mean, Gibraltar is part of Spain and how far is it away again?
Understanding how history comes to be formulated is the rwason why I argue we shouldn’t be complicit in what is Israel is doing now in the West Bank which is ultimately giving them a green light for a colonisation which we know contravenes international law.
Yeah, I see much of history your way. That's not to say that past invasions and settlement by migrations aren't a fait accompli in many historical (probably most) cases, but I really don't think Gibraltar is one of them. Crimea is another Gibraltar in the making - and we were about as right to do what we did in 1713 as Putin is today.
