Van de Ven has had a substantial rise to fame over the last 12 months, going from being a relatively unknown quantity when Spurs signed him from Wolfsburg to now being widely considered to be one of the best central defenders in the Premier League.

The Dutchman’s stock is bound to rise even further if he does well for the Netherlands in this summer’s Euros, which will be his first major tournament for his country.

Unsurprisingly, the young defender is already thought to be attracting interest from several elite clubs across Europe.

Tottenham News reported last month that they had heard from a recruitment source with close links to Spurs that several of the continent’s big hitters had expressed an interest in the 23-year-old ahead of the summer transfer window.

However, Spurs fans do not need to lose any sleep over losing the centre-back this summer, with the player admitting that he is loving life at N17.

When asked about being voted the club’s Player of the Season, Van de Ven told Soccer News: “Yes, that is very nice. It was a tough season with two injuries, but when I played it went well.

“I am very satisfied at Spurs and hope to achieve great things there.”

Spurs Web Opinion

If Tottenham fail to progress next season and finish outside the top four again, there is a very real threat that many of Europe’s biggest clubs will come knocking for the likes of Van de Ven and Udogie, who are well on their way to becoming one of the best in the world in their position.

Many clubs across the continent will be kicking themselves for not taking a chance on the Dutch defender last season, his pace alone has proven to be such a key asset to the way in which Ange Postecoglou likes to set up his team.

Considering the fact van de Ven is under contract at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium until the summer of 2029 (transfermarkt) is enough comfort that the club have enough power to hold onto the player for the foreseeable future.
