Cristian Romero takes to social media to send a determined and defiant message to Tottenham fans about where he wants the club to be, following the end of the 2023/24 campaign.
While Tottenham only managed a fifth-place finish in the Premier League this season, suffered two early knockouts in the domestic cups, and played without European football for the first time in a decade, it was actually a successful season for the Lilywhites.
On the back of an eighth-place finish last season, Tottenham not only parted ways with the greatest-ever goalscorer (Harry Kane) but also had to adapt to a brand new way of playing – Ange-ball.
Postecoglou won the Manager of the Month award for the first three months of the season and led Tottenham back into the Europa League, all while stamping his own unique blend of attacking football onto N17.
Cristian Romero wants to win something at Tottenham
Cristian Romero, who was made vice-captain by his new manager this season, is determined to keep moving forward in pursuit of silverware next season.
Romero tweeted: ‘One of the best seasons, but I cannot be 100 per cent happy. This team deserved more, this club and its fans deserve to win!
‘I, along with my teammates, have given everything to try and in my life, I will never stop fighting to get higher and to get better every day. Thanks to our fans for always being there, for better or for worse! London is white, come on you Spurs.’
Spurs Web Opinion:
Romero has really taken to this vice-captain role. You can see how much more of a leader he has been on the pitch this season, rather than the erratic rogue enforcer we have seen in previous years. Not to mention the fact he is a World Cup-winner!
