FIFA secures federal tax exemptions of World Cup nations
April 30 – FIFA is on course to ensure a federal tax exemption for the 48 World Cup finalists after talks with US officials.
Following a FIFA Council meeting, the world governing body revealed that qualified member associations can apply for a tax exemption under section 501(c)(3) of the US treasury’s internal revenue code.
The section typically applies to charitable organisations and churches in the US. The 48 teams will still be subject state and city taxes.
