Korea to host Baseball for All Tournament on April 25 and 26
The Korea Baseball Softball Association (KBSA) will host the Baseball for All event on Saturday, 25, and Sunday, 26 April, in Miryang, South Gyeongsang Province, as part of the National Life Sports Festival.
"I am delighted to host the Baseball for All Tournament again this year," commented KBSA President Hae-young Yang. "This event showcases the passion of community baseball players. I extend a warm welcome to all the participating teams. KBSA will continue to strive for the expansion of the community baseball base."
The Baseball for All tournament will include two categories. The competitive category (players born in 1987 or earlier) will include 11 participating teams: Daegu, Gwangju, Incheon, Ulsan, Gangwon, Chungnam, Chungbuk, Gyeongnam, and Sejong.
The 40 and over category will have 17 participants, 16 Korean provinces and cities and a selection from the Japanese Prefecture of Ishikawa.
"The participation of the Japanese team is part of the Korea-Japan Sports Exchange Program for All," stated KBSA in a press release. "This initiative aims to expand community baseball exchange and foster mutual cultural understanding through baseball, a sport beloved in both nations."
The Korean Olympic Committee organises the National Life Sports Festival. Along with the National Sports Festival and the National Junior Sports Festival, it is the largest amateur multi-sport event in Korea. The National Life Sports Festival opened on Friday, 24 April, and will involve over 20,000 athletes.
