Bo Bichette Completes First PSL Workout

0 1

Day two of pitchers and catchers is in the books here in Port St. Lucie, and while the official report day for the rest of the team isn’t until Monday, Bo Bichette is here and locked in.

The third baseman completed his first full day of workouts as a Met on Thursday.

Bichette and manager Carlos Mendoza both spoke after Thursday’s practices. After spending his entire career with the Blue Jays, Bichette discussed finding a new routine with a different jersey on his back. He noted, “It’s honestly really exciting, it almost feels like my first season again.”

After spending most of his big league career at shortstop with a few innings at second, Bichette discussed the transition to third and how it’s still a learning process for him.

Mendoza noted in a press conference earlier in the week that early signs are pointing to Bichette batting third behind Lindor and Soto. Bichette said that because he’s hit almost everywhere throughout his career, he’s prepared for whatever comes his way.

Mendoza commented on his early impressions of Bichette, noting his early impressions of the 27-year-old are of a “gamer” who likes to compete.

Juan Soto‘s shift to left field was touched on, with the idea coming when rosters were being constructed for the World Baseball Classic. That prompted Mendoza to talk to Soto to make sure he was comfortable with the switch, which he was.

Mendoza spoke with Francisco Lindor, who is in good spirits and recovering well post-surgery for a fractured hamate bone. The Mets manager hopes Lindor can return to camp in the next few days.
