Morning Briefing: Giants on the Verge of Unprecedented Managerial Hire

Per Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, the San Francisco Giants are closing in on hiring Tennessee coach Tony Vitello as their next manager. Jeff Passan of ESPN elaborated, saying the Giants are expected to make a final decision and announcement within the next 24 to 72 hours. The sides have yet to officially reach a deal yet.
In a follow-up tweet, Passan mentioned that Vitello would be the first MLB manager directly hired from the college ranks.

Playoff Update
On Sunday night, the Seattle Mariners and Toronto Blue Jays face off in Game 6 of the American League Championship Series. The Mariners currently lead the series 3-2 and are just one win away from a visit to the World Series.
Sunday night’s matchup will feature right-handed pitcher Logan Gilbert (1-0, 2.45 ERA, 11 SO) on the mound for the Mariners against right-handed pitcher Trey Yesavage (1-1, 4.82 ERA, 15 SO) taking the ball for the Blue Jays.
