Mets Minors Recap: Benge Continues Domination, Gordon Shines
Despite trading away several prospects during the trade deadline, the Mets still boast a promising farm system. Carson Benge dominated on the offensive side of the ball, tripling in the ninth and finishing the day 3-for-4.
R.J. Gordon matched on the mound Friday night with a stellar outing for Binghamton. The 23-year-old right-hander fired seven strong innings, allowing just four hits and one earned run while walking one and striking out six. He threw 81 pitches, 56 of them for strikes, in one of his best performances of the season.

Syracuse Mets (55-51) 5, Buffalo Bisons (40-62) 3
- LF Jared Young, 2-for-4, HR, 2B, 1 RBI (.915 OPS)
- C Hayden Senger, 1-for-3, HR, 1 BB, 1 RBI (.670 OPS)
- RF Luke Ritter, 2-for-5, HR, 2 RBI (.735 OPS)
Jared Young had a strong day at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a double and a solo home run. Hayden Senger added a homer of his own and reached base twice, while Luke Ritter chipped in with a two-hit effort, including a home run and two RBIs. Ritter has four hits in his last three games.
- RHP Justin Hagenman, 4.0 IP, 2 H, 4 K (4.99 ERA)
Justin Hagenman continued his scoreless streak, tossing four shutout innings while allowing just two hits and striking out four. He has now gone 10.1 consecutive innings without surrendering a run since being sent back down to Syracuse.
Double-A

Carson Benge led the offense with a 3-for-4 performance, highlighted by a triple. Nick Lorusso drove in the tying run in the 10th with a clutch hit, finishing 1-for-4 on the day and leading the Ponies to a win before Jett Williams delivered the walk-off sac fly. Benge has not had a hitless game since July 10 and is excelling in Binghamton with an OPS of 1.159.

R.J. Gordon delivered a stellar performance, tossing seven strong innings while allowing just one earned run on four hits and striking out six. Hunter Parsons followed with a dominant inning of relief, striking out all three batters he faced.
High-A
Jersey Shore BlueClaws (42-54) 4, Brooklyn Cyclones (60-40) 1
- C Ronald Hernandez 1-for-3, 1 RBI (.651 OPS)
Ronald Hernandez drove in Brooklyn’s lone run with an RBI single, going 1-for-3 at the plate, but it wasn’t enough as the Cyclones were held in check and fell to the BlueClaws on Friday.
- RHP Hoss Brewer 2.2 IP, 1 H, 4 K (3.00 ERA)
Hoss Brewer was sharp out of the bullpen, tossing 2.2 scoreless innings while allowing just one hit and striking out four.
Single-A
St. Lucie Mets (58-40) 6, Daytona Tortugas (45-53) 3
- DH Rafael Ortega, 3-for-5, HR, 1 RBI (1.355 OPS)
- CF Yonatan Henriquez, 1-for-4, 2B, 1 RBI (.701 OPS)
St. Lucie rallied for three runs in the eighth as Yonatan Henriquez led the charge with a 1-for-4 night that included an insurance RBI double. Rafael Ortega also had a strong night, going 3-for-5 with a home run.
- RHP Jonathan Jimenez 3.0 IP, 3 H, 1 BB, 2 K (1.50 ERA)
Jonathan Jimenez turned in a solid relief effort, tossing three scoreless innings while allowing three hits, walking one, and striking out two. Jimenez will look to continue his excellent July, where he allowed just one earned run over 13 innings.
Dominican Summer League

- C Josmir Reyes 3-for-4, 2B, 2 RBI, 1 BB (.810 OPS)

Elian Peña entered August on a strong note, tallying six hits over his last three games, including a three-hit outing that featured his first triple after slashing an impressive .306/.425/.431 slash line in July.

Jean Brito continued to struggle on the mound, allowing four runs (three earned) over three innings today, bringing his total to seven runs surrendered across his last two outings.

- PH Alvaro Matos, 1-for-1, 1 RBI (.559 OPS)
- 3B Jose Padilla, 1-for-3, HR, 2 RBI (.606 OPS)
Third baseman Jose Padilla went 1-for-3 with two RBIs, launching his first home run of the season in the process. The home run was Padilla’s first hit since July 5.
