Sewald hits injured list; Kwan hits dribbler that forces “swing off”

Morning N&N for July 16

Tuesday began with a surprise and also ended with a surprise.

We were not expecting Paul Sewald to be placed on the IL during the ASB, but that’s just what happened yesterday afternoon. Presumably this is the same injury that cost him a couple months recently. Cleveland has had a real problem with re-injuries this season, in both the Majors and Minors.

We were also not expecting another home run derby yesetrday. Even if you knew the rules, you wouldn’t have expected one to break a tie, as the NL broke out to a 6-0 lead off of Royals and Tigers pitchers. But Steven Kwan came to the plate down 6-5 in the 9th and #GuardsBall’d one on the infield to send the game to extra innings. Nope! Tiebreaker thing.

Kyle Schwarber was the star of this home run derby, hitting all 3 of his swings out of Atlanta’s Ballpark Ballpark to win things for the NL.
