Mets Minors Recap: Tong Dominates for Binghamton

0 3

Jonah Tong was fabulous for Binghamton on Sunday. The 21-year-old Ontario native struck out eight over four innings, only allowing one earned run and raising his total strikeout count on the season to 38 in just five games. Tong is rising through the system as the Mets ‘ third-best pitching prospect in the organization behind Brandon Sproat and Nolan McLean.

Triple-A

Syracuse Mets (15-18) 2,  Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (16-16) 4

BOX SCORE

Billy McKinney and Donovan Walton‘s solo homers were the only sources of offense on Sunday in a 4-2 loss to the Railriders. Drew Gilbert tallied another hit and could be in consideration for a big league role if Jesse Winker hits the IL (Jared Young is in play for a role too), though my money’s on Jon Singleton.

Kevin Herget delivered a steady outing with two innings pitched, allowing one earned run on two hits and two walks. Sean Reid-Foley struck out one and gave up just one hit. Rico Garcia closed out with two innings of scoreless work, striking out two and issuing two walks.
