Reds face Guardians, Brewers in split-squad action to open Cactus League slate
Baseball is back!
Manager Terry Francona will be in Maryvale today as his half of the Cincinnati Reds take on the Milwaukee Brewers to help open the Reds Cactus League schedule. The game is part of a split-squad doubleheader on Saturday, as Freddie Benavides will manage the mirror portion of the roster in Goodyear against the Cleveland Guardians.
Technically, the Reds/Guardians game is the opener, as first pitch in Goodyear is set for 3:05 PM EST while Reds/Brewers has a first pitch set for 3:10 PM ET. Graham Ashcraft will pitch first for the Reds in Maryvale against the Beers for Francona, while Benavides will send ace Hunter Greene to the mound for a likely inning against Cleveland.
How To Watch/Listen
The Reds/Guardians game will actually be televised by the Guardians feed, so you’ll be able to view it through MLB.tv. It also just so happens to be the MLB.tv free game of the day, so you can watch it through MLB.com without an MLB.tv package! You can also follow along with the Reds broadcast on the 700 WLW radio feed, or Cleveland’s radio broadcast on WTAM 1100.
Reds/Brewers, however, is not going to be televised anywhere. Milwaukee’s radio broadcast will be via WTMJ 620
