Baseball legend Ichiro Suzuki special guest at ePremier12
A baseball legend from Japan will make a special appearance at November’s Championship Game of the HUGAN WBSC ePremier12 2024.
Ichiro Suzuki will be a special guest at the ePremier12 Championship Game, to be held on November 23 at the Tokyo Dome in Japan. He will be at the Opening Ceremony after the first game of the day, encouraging the eBaseball™ players who will compete for the title of World Champion later on in the day.
Furthermore, Ichiro will also make an appearance at the award ceremony for the ePremier12, where he will award the champion of the ePremier12 along with the WBSC President Riccardo Fraccari and a representative from HUGAN.
In his illustrious career, Ichiro racked up a career .311 batting average and over 3,000 hits in 19 Major League Baseball seasons in addition to his nearly 1,280 hits in Japan’s Nippon Professional Baseball. He won MLB’s Most Valuable Player award and Rookie of the Year award in 2001, his first season in America. The outfielder is widely regarded as one of the best and most important Japanese players in the history of the game of baseball.
The ePremier12 will feature four of the best eBaseball™ players in the world competing in the Super Round in Tokyo for the title of World Champion, including Mexico’s Ben Zen, Chinese Taipei’s Dashu, Japan’s SHORA and NEGRAY.
The Super Round competition begins on 21 November with round-robin play between the four players, with the top two moving on to play in the Championship Game to be held at the Tokyo Dome on 23 November.
That match will be broadcast exclusively online on the WBSC YouTube channel, WBSC Facebook page, and the WBSC eSport Twitch channel (English commentary), as well as the NTV Sports YouTube channel (Japanese commentary).
