[Women's Basketball] Women's Basketball Edged by No. 12 Morningside

Doane Women's Basketball hosted No. 12 Morningside on Tuesday evening and pushed the Mustangs until the end with M-side coming out on top, 97-93.

Each quarter of play was closely contested with the ultimate difference coming in the second quarter. Morningside shot 68.8-percent in the second quarter while Doane shot 45-percent and the Mustangs outscored the Tigers by four points to take a one-point lead into halftime. Free throws caught Doane on this night, going 5-of-6 in the first half but dropping to 11-of-22 in the second half.

Mak Hatcliff (SO/Beatrice, Neb.) led the Tigers with 25 points and seven rebounds. Macy Holtz (SO/Plainview, Minn.) added 23 points, hitting 5-of-7 behind the arc, to go with six rebounds, four assists, and three steals. Megan Chambers (FR/Omaha, Neb.) finished with 12 points, six rebounds, and two blocked shots. Kali Staples (SO/Broken Bow, Neb.) chipped in with 11 points and four assists.

Morningside received 22 points and 16 rebounds from Chloe Lofstrom while Aspen Jansa finished with 18 points.

Doane will return to action on December 2 in Mitchell, S.D., as they take on No. 7 Dakota Wesleyan at 5 PM.
