Mets first base coach Wayne Kirby underwent surgery to deal with prostate cancer on Tuesday.

Kirby found out about the cancer prior to the season and his condition was unknown until during the #StandUp2Cancer moment at the All Star Game when Mets first baseman Pete Alonso and Padres third baseman Manny Machado each wrote Kirby’s names down on their cards.

Kirby is feeling well and is up walking around the hospital, he told in a text to the New York Post.

Kirby wanted to take care of the treatment after the season but was advised to get it done now, including by Buck Showalter.

Kirby is expected to rejoin the Mets soon. The Subway Series (July 26-27) is his target date.
