A Touch of Class that Touches a Lifetime - Keeping it Realmccoy

I feel compelled to write this post and am appreciative that you have stopped by to read it. I want to shout from the mountains about a small incident that occurred at Comerica Park in Detroit because for every Albert Bell – there is a Francisco Lindor – a gentleman and an ambassador, but unfortunately his good deeds often go unnoticed while a malcontent’s deeds get documented everywhere.

First let me set scene. We are a Tribe family that lives in South Texas, 1400 miles or more away from Tribe town. So whenever we vacation near a Tribe game, we go. The opportunities are scarce enough, that our day at the ballpark are truly treasured times. On this occasion, we were in Detroit for the Friday night tilt vs. the Tigers. With great seats just to the right of the Indians dugout, we got to see the Tribe up close and personal.

My 11 year old granddaughter idolizes just 1 baseball player and that player is Francisco Lindor. While she may not know a balk from a walk – she knows she just loves watching Francisco play. As Frankie warmed up, using the largest rubber band ever to get completely stretched, my granddaughter enthusiastically yelled and waved at him. Right in the middle of stretching – he looked up, smiled, and waved. That made her day. And would have been a great story of the game. But what happened next was the memory of a lifetime. Frankie finished his warmups 5 minutes after that wave, and it was time to run to the dugout for the game. But instead of running to the dugout – he veered right to my granddaughter, gave her a hug, and took a picture with her.

Why Frankie took the time to make the day so special to my granddaughter, he only knows. But I can tell you – I have been to games for over 50 year and have never witnessed something like this before. His class, enthusiasm for the game, and touch with the fans make hm truly a remarkable person. Thank you Frankie for an unforgettable moment.
