Yanks Trade with a twist
We all are well aware the A's and Yankees are extensively scouting each other, both at the MLB & MILB levels. The Yankees are known to want both Sonny & Yonder, while Billy Owens and the rest of the scouting staff scours the Yankees system. The A's are said to be targeting a young CF as part of any package. Not only are the Yankees rich with MILB talent in this area they have excess at the MLB level, while looking to remake the OF with youth in Judge & Frazier at the corners.
The A's need a lead off hitter and CF. The Yankees have one on the bench at over 21M per year. If the A's took the contract would the Yankees sweeten the pot? Moving that gives them much more cap flexibility to sign more arms in the off season.
Would they package 5 of there top guys, to do the following package knowing they have resources to tsign a Darvish, etc. top arm this off season in addition to getting Gray for 2 more years?
A's send Sonny Gray, Yonder Alonso, Raj Davis to NY
Yankees send Jacoby Ellsbury, & OF's Jorge Mateo/Estevan Florial along with arms Chase Adams, Domingo Acevedo, Freicer Perez
Little outside the box but A's only have 2 contracts on the books next year in Joyce & Castillo and gaining an extra 11M once Butler's contract expires at EOY.
Thoughts?
