PIKEVILLE, Ky. - The University of Rio Grande bolted to a 17-4 lead to begin the game and then held on down the stretch to post a 59-52 win over the University of Pikeville, Thursday afternoon, in non-conference men's basketball action at UPike Gym.
The RedStorm improved to 7-8 with the victory and halted a three-game losing slide in the process.
The Bears, who were receiving votes in the latest NAIA coaches' Top 25 poll, lost for just the third time in 14 outings.
