As a Transgender Athlete Is Going to the Olympics, More U.S. States Pass Bans

New Zealand weightlifter Laurel Hubbard is set to become the first openly transgender Olympic athlete. In 2015, the IOC began allowing transgender athletes to compete in women's sports if their testosterone levels are below a certain level. That rule held runner CeCe Telfer out of the U.S. Track and Field trials this week. Several U.S. states have passed bills to ban trans students from competing in school sports that match their gender identity. Read on for the latest developments.
