Jon Jones is making sure that when he finally debuts at heavyweight, it’s going to be with heavyweight strength.

The multiple-time UFC light heavyweight champion has provided regular updates as he transforms his body for a move up from the 205-pound division, and the latest clip sees him performing five Zercher squat reps.

In the clip, Jones can be seen with a heavily-weighted barbell held in the creases of his arms. An on-screen caption says Jones was squatting 435 pounds each time.

Along with the video, Jones wrote, “Old dog in the yard showing what grown man strength looks like.”

Jones has competed at light heavyweight for the entirety of his pro MMA career dating back to 2008. He had often talked about a move to heavyweight, but it wasn’t until last year that he officially announced he would be changing divisions. The announcement came during a public spat between Jones and the UFC over financial compensation that eventually led to Jones voluntarily relinquishing the light heavyweight championship in anticipation of a heavyweight jump.

The first heavyweight challenge for Jones has yet to be announced, but he and the matchmakers are presumably waiting on the outcome of the Stipe Miocic vs. Francis Ngannou heavyweight championship rematch at UFC 260 on March 27.

In the meantime, Jones has been keeping his finger muscles busy as well, as he was active on social media during Saturday’s UFC 259 superfight between light heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz and middleweight champion Israel Adesanya. Blachowicz defeated Adesanya by unanimous decision to retain his title and Jones did not hold back in roasting “The Last Stylebender.”
