European Weightlifting Championship: Three Armenians lose fight to Azerbaijani rivals

Three Armenian freestyle wrestlers lost their fight to Azerbaijani rivals in the quarter round of the 2018 European Weightlifting Championship in Kaspiysk (Russia).

Mihran Jarburyan (w/c 57kg), who took advantage over Romania’s Andrey Dukov in the starting round, was beaten by Georgy Edishverashvili (an ethnic Georgian who represented Azerbaijan) 0-10 on Friday.

Varuzhan Kajoyan (79kg) was crucially defeated by Jabrayil Hasanov (1-6).  The sportsman had celebrated victory over Finland’s Henri Aleksi Selenius in his opening fight.

Georgy Ketoev lost his battle to Normogez Gajiev 0-3.

The three sportsmen will have chances for an alternative match provided their rivals qualify for the finals.
